BLUE
Blue is hearing waves lapping the shore,
blue is a white cotton ball cloud
dangling from a sheet of silk.
It's like biting a blueberry
with juice running down your cheek
or of cold water running
down along your body
in the heat of the sun.
Blue is the scent of peppermint
boiling with chocolate.
That is what blue is.
YELLOW
Saffron saturated sauce
dripping from a plate of curry.
Golden hued light in the last hours
of lazy summer afternoons.
Dandelions in ditches
lining muddy roads in spring.
Circular faces of sunflowers
saluting a dawning day.
Mustard tang on tongue
Or tart lemon squeeze.
Yellow.
